Japan-Readiness Index
Foreign products lose Japanese customers not to competitors, but to gaps they can't see. We measure those gaps — and we only claim what's controllable and verifiable.
What we measure
- Localization qualityNative Japanese UI/UX vs machine-translated 'Japanese-skinned English' — the #1 acute gap.
- Discoverability.jp / hreflang(ja), Japanese content, and presence in Japanese search & dev channels (Qiita/Zenn).
- Trust & 特商法Japanese company info, 特定商取引法 disclosure, and trust signals Japanese buyers check.
- Pricing & paymentJPY pricing and Japanese payment methods (konbini / bank transfer / JCB).
- SupportJapanese-language support path.
How we score — honestly
We score only controllable, publicly verifiable signals (localization, .jp/hreflang, JPY, 特商法, payment, support). Scores are estimates, not guarantees. We don't claim revenue attribution — only what's verifiable — and we publish low scores, including our own clients' before-states. Verifiable proof over cherry-picked case studies.
What a low score usually looks like
A typical foreign SaaS with real Japanese traffic still scores low because: the product UI reads as translated English, checkout is English-only and USD-only, there's no 特商法 page, and it's invisible for the Japanese queries buyers actually use. Each is controllable — and fixable.
